Sunday, July 24, 2011 Pie By Lisa This is why I pick blueberries.
Saturday, July 23, 2011 Jewels of Summer The wild, highbush blueberries on Pitcher Mountain are exceptional again this year. This is where Ian has been busy trail clearing this spring and summer. An early morning rain shower followed by blazing sunshine made for somewhat uncomfortable picking conditions. I managed 6 quarts (5.6 L) before the heat and humidity became too oppressive. Then I went home for a nap. But I will return to pick another day and stock the freezer with these summer beauties.
Friday, July 22, 2011 Morning Watch After breakfast, Baldr likes to sit and see what's going on outside. It's only for a few minutes, then he's off to help Lisa bring Caspian his morning grain. Today was exceptionally hot, 88F at 8:30 this morning. At 2PM this afternoon the car thermometer was back and forth between 101 and 102 F. At 6PM it was 97F.
