Sunday, October 9, 2011 Full Circuit October 9 marks the one year anniversary of our move-in day. Much has happened in our first year, including significant weather events and changes/enhancements to the property. Much remains to be done. Today I bring the First Year gallery to a close. The Year Two gallery begins tomorrow! http://www.kevindwarren.com/Portfolio/Home-Year-Two/19466738_hx4pZQ
Saturday, October 8, 2011 Baldr and the Chipmunk Baldr waits for a chipmunk he's been chasing on the stone wall. The chipmunk is a constant source of great interest for the young dog.
Friday, October 7, 2011 Monadnock Moon The moon rises over the trees with Mount Monadnock on the horizon to the right. Stoddard, New Hampshire
Thursday, October 6, 2011 A frosty start this morning to what turned into a lovely day with sunshine and blue skies. The forest canopy is thinning a bit, but peak fall color is expected here this weekend.
Wednesday, October 5, 2011 Not Raining We had a day of mostly sunshine today for the first time in a week maybe. Baldr celebrated by jumping over a fallen tree with a stick in his mouth.
Tuesday, October 4, 2011 Drops The apples are dropping at a steady rate. We had not seen the doe for awhile until this morning when she appeared for breakfast under the tree.
Monday, October 3, 2011 Mount Monadnock Mount Monadnock sits on the horizon beneath an intriguing cloud bank. Monadnock is a Native American (Abenaki) term referring to an isolated hill or mountain. This image taken from the south pasture, Andorra Forest, Stoddard, New Hampshire.
Sunday, October 2, 2011 Autumn Mist Another overcast day today. This view is from Cold Spring Pond in Stoddard, New Hampshire.
Friday, September 30, 2011 Wood Pile I took advantage of a cooler day without rain to cut some firewood.
Thursday, September 29, 2011 A Blustery Day Heavy bands of rain filled most of the day, giving way to some gusty wind and a hint of clearing this evening.
September 28, 2011 An Autumn Medley Technically a year has passed since I first began this gallery on 9/24/2010. But I have decided to extend this gallery through to October 9, 2011 since that is our official, one year, move-in anniversary. After that? The second year gallery begins, of course!
Tuesday, September 27, 2011 Paper Shredder Baldr likes to tear up paper. He had permission for this one. :>)
Monday, September 26, 2011 Return of Summer Although it looked like fall, it felt more like summer today.
Sunday, September 25, 2011 Apple Picking Time The apple trees around the yard are laden with fruit. The apples are small and blemished, but tart and quite tasty. With pruning, perhaps the output can be improved. We easily filled a bucket with drops and after some time in the kitchen, converted them into 12 jars of chutney.
Saturday, September 24, 2011 Lower Stillwater, Ashuelot River This area, about a mile down the road, is always the first to put on an early display of vibrant color. Cloudy and misty this morning, the colors are more vibrant on a clear, sunny day. A Lee polarizing filter was used for this image.
Thursday, September 22, 2011 Salsa Lisa spent the afternoon preparing and canning homemade salsa using tomatoes and peppers from the garden.
Wednesday, September 21, 2011 Tomato Harvest With the arrival of frost potential, the tomatoes are now off the vine and safely inside, ready for processing.
Tuesday, September 20, 2011 The Literate Canine Baldr passes the evening engrossed in an improving book about upside down puppies.
Monday, September 19, 2011 Sunday Driver Yesterday, Lisa took Caspian for some exercise along the main road toward town. Baldr and I tagged along to provide an escort.
Sunday, September 18, 2011 The First Volley Autumn has fired a shot across our bow, what with the chilly weather and some beginning color.
Saturday, September 17, 2011 A Chill in the Air Caspian was a bit feisty this morning, probably due to the light frost. With the advent of some cooler weather, he may need to start wearing his sheet at night.
Friday, September 16, 2011 A Change In The Weather Cool and crisp this morning with a bit of slushy ice on the windshield. Scattered frost warnings are posted for tomorrow.
Thursday, September 15, 2011 Air Baldr I've been so busy processing wedding photos - two weddings in a weeks time - that I just realized I hadn't posted here for two days. This image is from September 6. I was framing up the swollen little stream that feeds Abbott Brook to show all the excess water. Unbeknownst to myself, Baldr decided to run in and leap over the stream just as I tripped the shutter. I liked the unplanned result very much.
Monday, September 12, 2011 Where's Baldr? He's blending fairly well into the forest, waiting for a chipmunk, no doubt. A larger image view will more clearly reveal his whereabouts.
