Sunday, May 22, 2011 Snowy White in May This pair of apple trees are putting on a good show lately. They are so beautiful I almost wish they would blossom all summer, but soon, their petals will litter the grass with a soft carpet of white. First lawn mowing of the season today. I have a self-propelled lawn mower - propelled by *my-self* that is - and lots of lawn, Yikes.
Friday, May 20, 2011 Apple Blossom Time The evening air tonight is sweet with the scent of many apple blossoms.
Thursday, May 19, 2011 Common Snapping Turtle (Chelydra serpentina) Found navigating the gravel driveway this evening. Known for their fierce disposition, these turtles are too large to withdraw into their shells, hence, biting is their defense mechanism. Their necks have surprising range and their jaws are powerful enough to remove a finger. This is just a small one, but worthy of respect, nonetheless!
