Tuesday, April 19. 2011 Slate-Colored Junco We are inundated with these little gray avians, clamouring for space at the bird feeder.
Monday, April 18, 2011 For the (Blue) Birds A quick bird house, assembled to spec for the Eastern Bluebird. I used rough cut pine left over from the run-in stall, but may graduate to cedar for future models. I haven't actually seen any bluebirds around here yet, but hopefully they'll get the word before another species beats them to the door.
Sunday, April 17, 2011 Horses Lie Down ...but not very often. This image is actually from Friday when Caspian decided to have a little siesta. Aside from rolling, it's the first time I've ever seen him actually lying down. I guess he couldn't resist the warm spring sun, although it's an indication that he is starting to feel more secure in his new surroundings. Nevertheless, notice that his head is still up and his eyes are watchful.
