Thursday, September 26, 2013 The pasture was stumped this afternoon. Next comes the bulldozer.

Gray Pearmain

September 23, 2013 I feel pretty sure that the apples from the tree back in the corner of the yard are Gray Pearmain, an heirloom variety. Greenish yellow skin with a bit of a blush and a pear-like taste. I could be wrong but it seems to fit the bill.

Pasturization

September 22, 2013 Several years of felling trees, cutting, hauling, piling and burning are coming to fruition as the pasture area is ready to become an actual pasture. Soon the excavator will arrive to pull the stumps hiding in ferns that wasted no time in appearing. Someday, perhaps as soon as next year, I will take a picture of Caspian grazing here.
