This morning I discovered a black and yellow garden spider had taken up residence on a blueberry bush and was quite willing to pose for a portrait.

Close Encounter
This afternoon Baldr met a porcupine in the woods. After they exchanged greetings, a trip to the vet was in order.
The vet administered a shot to put him out before removing the tenacious quills on the white side of his muzzle. Several hours later Baldr emerged from his induced sleep and began looking for his dinner, which was very late.
He is sporting a bit of a fat lip, as shown in this image.
